Assessment of the Organic Pollution in Sawa Lake

Abstract One of the primary issues that harms both man and his environment is water pollution. This study was carried out to assess level organic pollutants in Sawa lake water. Water Sampling collected from October 2021 February 2022, monthly, samples taken three different sites. Biological oxygen demand (BOD 5 ) measured by BOD Sensor after calibration processing, some related environmental parameters were also measured. The results showed values ranged between (5.9-7.6) mg/l, higher value 12.5 mg/l recorded S1 S2 during February, lower concentration (3 mg/l) November. all periods 6.67 mg/l. findings statistical analysis there significant differences sites months (p≤ 0.05). Monthly changes physicochemical properties autochthonous matter may be a reason for increasing content, addition wastes arrives near area. According Hynes classification, river classified as doubtful bad. Negative correlations founds BOD5 DO (r= -0.75) positive BOD5, EC nitrate 0.54, r=0.42), respectively.
